1 Data Protection Policy

employed.im is a careers, work experience and networking portal for people who are looking to pursue a career on the Isle of Man. 

Employed.im is administered by PDMS Limited

PDMS Limited is a Registered Data Controller, and complies with the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2002. 

Personal information gathered through this website, will be used solely for the purposes of this website. 

 2  Individuals' Information

When you register as an individual member on employed.im, you will be asked to provide the following personal information: 

  • First and last names 
  • A valid email address
  • Date of Birth

Once registered you can also add additional information including:

  • Address
  • Telephone numbers
  • Personal website
  • Personal statement
  • Skills
  • Interests
  • Educational background
  • Qualifications
  • Employment history

Some of this information will be used to match your profile with suitable vacancies and to contact you from time to time.  You can edit or remove this additional information at any time.

employed.im facilitates various privacy settings.  As a member, you can choose to set each of your basic profile details and CV to be visible to the following (your basic details must be set to be visible to the group to make a CV visible to the group): 

  • Only Me
  • Employers only 
  • All members

If you select a setting other than 'Only Me', your name and information pertaining to your education, employment and qualifications (not your address or email address) may be viewed by registered employers, or other individual members, through the search functionality of the website.  

The default privacy setting is 'Only Me', and you will need to alter your status to become visible to site members.  If you are under 16 and enrolled on a work experience programme, your basic profile details and CV will be visible to your School and PDMS’s work experience co-ordinators, but none of your details will be visible to any other member or employer and you cannot change that setting. When you reach the age of 16 you will then be able to choose to share your details. If you do not change your settings your details will remain hidden.

Further anonymous information is gathered via server logs. Browsing patterns, IP addresses, and other statistical information is recorded, and this information may be used to help evolve and improve the website and inform any marketing strategy we may undertake.  

This site also uses cookies to measure performance of the website, manage security, manage your visit and support some functionality. These cookies do not gather any personal information. PDMS Limited’s policy on the use of cookies can be read in full on the Privacy Policy & Cookies page.

PDMS Limited’s systems will retain all registration information for as long as you remain a registered user of the website.  


When you de-register from employed.im the following data will be deleted:

  • Basic Details 
  • Employment History 
  • Professional Qualifications 
  • Professional Associations 
  • Notifications 
  • Bookmarks

Messages from you to other registered users will remain in their inbox until they choose to delete them.

3 Organisations' Information

When job vacancy information is submitted online, employers will be asked to provide personal and business information. The information provided will be used solely for the purposes of this website and to contact you regarding the services of this website. 

Further anonymous information is gathered via server logs. Browsing patterns, IP addresses, and other statistical information is recorded, and this information may be used to help evolve and improve the website and inform any marketing strategy we may undertake.  By registering as an organisation in employed.im, you agree that your business details will be added to an online database that can be searched by individual members.

This site also uses cookies to measure performance of the website, manage security, manage your visit and support some functionality. These cookies do not gather any personal information. PDMS Limited’s policy on the use of cookies can be read in full on the PDMS website.

PDMS Limited’s systems will retain all registration information for as long as you remain a registered user of the website. 

When you de-register from employed.im the following data will be deleted:

  • Key Details (e.g. Organisation summary, contact details)  
  • Notifications  
  • Bookmarks  

Messages from you to other registered users will remain in their inbox until they choose to delete them. 

Job and work experience vacancies posted by you will be kept for the purpose of monitoring the usage of the site and for job/work statistical analysis.

From time to time, employed.im may wish to upload a vacancy advertisement to one of the employed.im social media sites, namely Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.  Vacancies posted on employed.im may also be passed to 3rd parties for listing on other websites. If you do not wish us to use vacancy details in this way please contact us at admin@employed.im.

4 Use of Information

Information on employed.im may be used for:

1. Academic study purposes. 

Any such use will adhere to BERA (British Educational Research Association) guidelines, as detailed in the ‘Ethical Guidelines for Educational Research (2011)’ publication.  In essence, anonymous information may be used to study patterns of website use. 

Personal information will be used for academic purposes only a) with the explicit, voluntary, informed consent of the member and b) when that personal information has been made anonymous.


2. Statistical reporting

Data recorded on employed.im may be used for statistical reporting, for example to provide information on the number of application forms that have been submitted through the site or the number of jobs advertised in various sectors. The purpose of this information is to provide useful information on the labour market. It will always be depersonalised.


Please note that PDMS Limited may use third party reporting such as Google Analytics to obtain general information about browsing patterns and demographics. This does not use registration data from employed.im. Details of this and how to opt-out of third party tracking are provided on the Privacy Policy & Cookies page.


5 Eligibility for Membership

Organisation membership is open only to organisations with an Isle of Man based presence.

All requests for organisation membership will be reviewed by PDMS Limited who reserve the right to contact the organisation for further information if necessary and to refuse membership or terminate an existing membership at any time if the applicant is not a genuine representative of an organisation with an Isle of Man based presence.

Individual membership is open to anyone over the age of 13. Any member aged 13, 14 or 15 must obtain permission from their parent or guardian before joining.

6 Member Responsibilities

By registering with employed.im you certify that the details entered are your own and you will not register, submit a CV or apply for a vacancy on behalf of any other party.

You must not upload any CV which is not a genuine CV or which attempts to advertise or promote any product or service.

You must not use employed.im for any unlawful purpose or any illegal activity, or post or submit any content, CV, or vacancy that is defamatory, libellous, implicitly or explicitly offensive, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive, hateful, racist, discriminatory, of a menacing character or likely to cause annoyance, inconvenience, embarrassment, anxiety or could cause harassment to any person or include any links to pornographic, indecent or sexually explicit material of any kind, as determined by PDMS Limited’s discretion.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account, profile and passwords, as applicable. You should not share your password or other account access information with any other party and you shall be responsible for all uses of your login and password, whether or not authorised by you. If you suspect that your password has become known by someone else you should immediately change your password via the link on the website.

The nature of this site is such that PDMS Limited do not have control over the content, as much of it is entered and maintained by members and organisations. PDMS Limited regularly monitor the content of the site, but if you see anything on the site which you consider to be inappropriate or offensive please report it to the employed.im administration team via the link on the website.

As an organisation you must not post any vacancy which is not in accordance with Isle of Man employment legislation. If a vacancy is advertised as being available to members under the age of 16 it must be in accordance with the terms of the Education Act 2001 and the Employment of Children Regulations 2005.

7 Security

PDMS Limited has undertaken appropriate security measures to protect (with reasonable commercial endeavour) against the misuse, loss or alteration of information you have provided.

Unless otherwise stated, all material on the employed.im Internet site (excluding text and images uploaded by members and organisations), is Copyright © 2001-2015 PDMS Ltd, (including text, artwork, graphics, layout, and icons). This material cannot be copied or used in any way, without permission from PDMS Limited.


9 Disclaimer

The suppliers of the information and the editor and publisher of this site will take all reasonable measures to ensure that the information contained is correct, but cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage suffered as a result of any errors or omissions therein. To verify any information, please contact the employed.im administrative team at PDMS Ltd via the link on the website.

employed.im includes links to external sites, some of which have been made with the permission of the external site owners. PDMS Limited is not responsible for the content, availability or quality of material contained on external sites. Users are responsible for complying with the terms and conditions of use of any external sites.

11 Vacancy Policy

employed.im does not operate a placement service and does not guarantee responses to advertisements placed on this website.

12 Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions will be governed by the laws of the Isle of Man and by registering with employed.im you consent that any action in relation to this membership will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of the Isle of Man.
