Promoting careers at Employment and Skills 2017

The annual careers fair, hosted jointly by the Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Department of Education and Children (DEC), is the largest local event of its kind. Companies from a variety of sectors and background will be attending and on hand to offer guidance into their industry. The aim is to help people, at any stage of their career, find out more about jobs and opportunities there are on the Isle of Man.
What’s it about?
This event helps young adults to discover and explore different ways into employment and what the Isle of Man has to offer bridging the gap between schools and the workplace.
Exhibitors from a variety of industry sectors will showcase what their sector does and provide advice for those who are looking for a change in career or full-time employment.
Companies and individuals attending will include the following sectors:
- Financial Services
- Public Services
- Professional Services
Who should attend?
Employment and Skills 2017 event is open to everyone and it’s free to attend.
Throughout the day students from local secondary schools will be visiting for information about the extensive range of careers that are available in the Isle of Man’s diverse industry sectors. This will help them make apt choices in regards to their GCSE options.
But the event is not only appropriate for students and school leavers, but also for individuals at any stage in their career wanting to find out more about the opportunities that may be available to them as they would be able to chat to professionals and companies giving them the necessary information to make their next career move. Interested in a career change? This is a great opportunity to speak to people in the industry first hand for insight and advice!

Interested in ICT? MICTA will also be exhibiting at the event and happy to talk about careers in ICT and provide information for anyone interested working in that sector.
ACE will also be in attendance, providing information and guidance for those interesting in working in engineering on the Isle of Man. Look out for companies displaying their ACE membership badges who will be delighted to tell you about the field of engineering and manufacturing.
