An apprenticeship is a great way to learn a trade either as an employee working alongside experienced staff or on a day-release basis. You can develop practical skills working on-site with experienced employees supported by a training course – usually at the Isle of Man College.

Istock 000017880444XsmallAs an apprenticeship you’ll earn a salary and also be entitled to paid holidays. At the end of your apprenticeship you’ll have not only gained a qualification but valuable workplace skills and experience.  There’s also a chance that you’ll have secured full time employment when your apprenticeship finishes too – many apprentices go on to work for their employer on a permanent basis.

The Isle of Man Government’s Department of Economic Development provides a number of apprentice training programmes covering a wide range of occupations.

The application process varies depending on the apprenticeship you are applying for. For some apprenticeship courses you may have to first undertake an aptitude test which is followed by a formal interview.
