Volunteer for Junior Achievement!
Junior Achievement are looking for local business representatives to join their team of volunteers as a Business Mentor, for their Company Programme.
Students taking part in the Company Programme are aged 16 to 19 (normally in Year 12) and are required to set up and run a company over the course of one academic year. The students raise shared capital, develop, market and finance a product or service of their choice. The Company Programme enables students to gain experience of the real world, taking responsibility and being accountable to their shareholders & for the running of their business. At the end of the programme companies from all over the Island have the opportunity to compete in the National Finals, and the winning students will then represent the Isle of Man at the European Company of the Year Competition.
As a Business Mentor you would need to commit one hour per week at a designated time and day, during which time you will give advice to students about developing their business and will help them to make it a success! Mentors are currently required for Ramsey Grammar School, Queen Elizabeth II High School and Castle Rushen High School. You can find out more about becoming a Business Mentor here.
If you would like to sign up to be a Business Mentor, please contact Sue Cook at Junior Achievement: Sue.firstname.lastname@example.org, Tel: 01624 666266.
