Launching the new Digital Apprenticeship Scheme!
We are delighted to announce that we will be co-ordinate the Digital Apprenticeship Scheme for 2019-20, in collaboration with Isle of Man Digital Agency and University College Isle of Man (UCM).
employed.im have previously helped to coordinate the scheme through the Manx ICT Association (MICTA), but as the role of MICTA is now changing, we have taken on the contract to co-ordinate the scheme in our own right. Over the past 3 intakes, more than 25 apprentices have been employed and started their careers in the ICT Sector on the island, and PDMS are keen to build on this success.
“We are really proud to be coordinating this scheme and are pleased that the Digital Agency are lending their support. We are keen to promote alternatives to the traditional academic routes and support the Isle of Man Government’s aim of growing the Island’s economic population, especially in an industry that has a global skills shortage. Apprenticeships are a great way for young people in particular to gain qualifications as well as the necessary work experience, all without getting into debt” Lorna Trevethan, PDMS’ General Manager, Isle of Man Community Platforms.
Apprentices will study either the BTEC Level 3 Apprenticeship in IT course or BTEC HNC Level 4 Computing Apprenticeship course depending on their existing qualification level. These courses will be studied on day release at UCM.
We are hosting a launch event at PDMS offices on 27th June 2019 from 5.30pm- The event is open to any IT industry representatives interested in finding out about supporting the apprenticeship scheme, and to any students thinking about becoming an apprentice. Please register here if you want to attend the event.
