CoinCorner to Hold Student Open Evening

Local bitcoin business, CoinCorner, is holding an open evening for students at its offices in Douglas next month.

Open to final year students at UCM and those studying off-island at university, the event aims to give upcoming graduates an opportunity to speak with staff from CoinCorner and gain an insight into what it's like to work in the fast-paced cryptocurrency industry.

Leading the way for the Island's cryptocurrency sector, CoinCorner provides a platform where individuals can buy, sell, send, receive and store bitcoin. The successful startup recently moved to new premises in the centre of the Island's financial district and is expanding its team to offer competitive opportunities for young people entering the Island’s workforce. The business, which has customers all around the world, is helping to develop positions in sought-after professions such as software development, marketing, compliance and accountancy.

Liam Wiltshire, front-end developer at CoinCorner, said, “The cryptocurrency industry has grown at a great pace along with CoinCorner these last few years and it shows no sign of slowing down. Businesses like ourselves are having to respond quickly in order to meet the demands of the market. Since the beginning of the year (January 2018), we've already doubled the size of our team and we still have positions to fill.”

Molly Spiers, marketing manager, said, “It's always been important to us as a business that we support the Island's economy by employing local people whenever possible.

It's well known that many Manx students choose not to return to the Island after their time at university, opting to pursue a career in the UK or further afield instead. Whatever their reasons for doing so, it is important that they are aware of the fantastic career opportunities that the Island’s businesses have to offer.

I, myself, was born and raised on the Isle of Man and attended university in the UK. I returned to the Island once I had graduated to seek employment and I'm very glad I did - I've been given opportunities here that I never would have had elsewhere.

The open evening takes place on Thursday 5 April from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Students are encouraged to bring their CV should they wish to be considered for future roles at the company.

Places at the open evening are limited and must be booked in advance via Eventbrite:
