We’re delighted to be working with the local IT Industry to offer a Digital Apprenticeship Scheme! This scheme is ideal for those who want to gain experience in the IT Industry alongside obtaining an industry recognised qualification - earning whilst you learn!

The scheme is taking applications until 5th July and here’s all you need to know:

What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey-level craft person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation.

Who would I be studying with?

You will study at University College Isle of Man, on day release from your employer.

What qualifications or experience do I need to apply for the scheme?

For Level 3 -

For Level 4 -

How long will I work for a company?

You will have a Two Year employment contract with your employer.

How much time would I spend at college at work each week?

On the Level 3 Course you will have one day per week during term time.

On the Level 4 Course you will have half a day per week during term time.

During UCM holidays you will be in work full-time!

Who pays my study fees?

The Department for Education, Sport and Culture pay your study fees.

How much could I earn whilst I study?

Below is a breakdown of starting salaries.  Regardless of which company you will be working for, this will be your basic salary in Year 1:

Which companies could I work for?

In the past the following companies have provided apprenticeships:

PDMS, IT Works, Manx Telecom, Equiom, Netcetera, Government Technology Services (GTS), MBS, Antelle, Nedbank

We are currently busy liaising with local companies and will have more information about what apprenticeships are available at our Open Evening

Would I be guaranteed a job once my apprenticeship is complete?

There are no guarantees of a permanent position with the company who provides your apprenticeship.  However, you will have the right skills and qualifications to find further employment with local companies after the two years! Or you may find that the company you worked with does offer you a position.

Will there be any information events or launches I can attend to find out more before I commit to applying?

We are holding an Open Evening on Thursday 27th  June from 5.30 – 7pm at PDMS, Global House, Isle of Man Business Park.  This will be an informal meeting where you can ask any questions you may have.
